The
history of rungazelle.com goes back
to a meeting held at the East Grand Rapids Public
Library in November 2001. The meeting was called by
some concerned runners and leaders of the community
to reach out to create a format for running in the
community.
At
that meeting, it became clear that there were two groups
with two different agendas at the meeting. One group
of East Grand Rapids parents and coaches became focused
in offering a running program to students to encourage
their kids' running in the off season. The other group
wanted to create a format to encourage both beginning
and experienced runners with coaching and an opportunity
to meet other runners to make running fun. This became
the concept which has now formed rungazelle.com.
Over
the subsequent year, the people who make up the Board
of Directors of rungazelle.com created
skeleton of this new exciting running group. Our goal
is not only offer first class coaching, but also to
be an information site for runners in the West Michigan
running community.
History is constantly being written, so join us and
become part of it.
